This. Is. Temporarie.

Being pregnant is hard.  Getting pregnant is hard.  Staying pregnant; feeling good while pregnant; and the months post pregnancy is hard.  This shit's hard.  And only chicks can do it. Not to freak you out if you're a first time mom, but the reality is this is a journey, as most worthwhile things are.
It is a constant battle with emotions, physical changes,

relationships, and pants.  Getting dressed in general is war.

Being naked is the preferred method of comfort first.

You are probably a member of society if you landed here, and that requires you to show up for a few activities each day.  Your kitchen looks forward to seeing you. Maybe you have coworkers.  Hey, maybe you have friends. Possibly some family and in laws.  And of course 99% of these interactions require wearing clothes.   Whether the dress code is a dirty XL tee or the occasional dress up, nothing sucks out your soul more than pulling on a dress that gathers at the armpits.  Or pants with a seam that cuts a quarter down your ass. You've got shit to do, you've got people to see, and you don't have the luxury of being uncomfortable anymore.

Did we mention that being pregnant means you've completely forfeited your body to another human?  Congrats! The energy required for 3 outfits changes before getting out the door is enough to put you on bedrest until tomorrow.  And if there are other little humans you are trying to keep alive, then 1 minute and 37 seconds is all the time you are allotted to pull your look of the day together.

So hit pause on that $500 maternity wardrobe stock up shop at 18 weeks and browse the clothes of brands you already love.  There are dresses and tops and bottoms the will work if you size up or think a little differently about styling.  Pieces that are ribbed, smocked, or offer adjustable straps are a good start.  Items with a zipper that hits halfway down the back probably aren't going to transition well.  The real gem in building a closet that doesn't expire, is shopping with thought when the baby conversations start and as they continue through the course of a those babymaking years.  Happy sex, and love, and magic.

As strangers in the street remind you, this era goes fast. And such as everything in life, this is temporarie.  We exist to host all the non-maternity, maternity hacks our sisters, our co-workers, our neighbors, that chick on instagram, and our friends have been spilling wine over for the last few years.  Shop a curated collection of clothes from coveted brands that transition with you, so you can keep doing you.

Take a minute to create a versatile wardrobe and invest in pieces that looks like you’ve got your shit together.

this is temporarie exists to curate clothes, stories and conversations through the lens of motherhood for women who want to navigate their journey without losing themselves.
